Indoor Tri: Test Your Fitness

by Mike Bouska

January 12, 10 am North YMCA
February 9, 10 am North YMCA
(Meet at the pool after the masters swim)

Looking for a way to track your fitness progress this winter? The Bluff Busters will be performing monthly triathlon fitness tests, or time trials. Each month you will record your time/distance for a swim, bike, and run (there are two distances to choose from-see below). We will be having group sessions to do the tests, but if you are unable to make them, you can do them on your own.

The first group session for this month will be Sunday, January 12 at 10 am at the North Y. We will be meeting at the pool and do the swim test after the masters swim. Afterward, we will head upstairs to bike and run. Mike Bouska will be facilitating.

We are having two distances so that any fitness level can participate.

You can do our super sprint course: 200 yard swim, 15 minute bike and 15 minute run, or you can do our sprint course: 400 yard swim, 30 minute bike and 30 minute run.

Here is how we'll track your progress:

Swim: Will be measured by time.

Bike: Will be how many Kcal you can generate on the Keiser bikes at the Y. There are 4 bikes that measure power at each Y location. (Note: This is a great time to work on even pacing by watching your watts and keeping a high cadence. Also, if you have a power meter on your bike you can do your test at home.)

Run: Will be how far you can go in the time allowed. This can be done on a treadmill or if you have a GPS you can do it outside.

Send your time trial results each month to bluffbusterstriteam@gmail.com and we will tally them up and post them at the end of month.

All members are encouraged to participate, no matter what your fitness level or race goals. Remember, this is a race against the previous month’s self, not everyone else.
